This type of translation is needed if you have an audio file featuring recorded speech. The material in this case can come in various forms, such as an interview, a conference report, a lecture, a message, a telephone conversation, etc.
The initial step of audio translation is transcribing the speech to a textual format with timing. After translation, you get a text file containing the source and target texts with time-codes.
If the audio requires a voice-over, the translated text has to be first marked with pauses, phrase accents, and transcription where necessary. These subtasks are also covered by multimedia translators.
